ICAR Exam for admission in Undergraduate and Post Graduate Agri Courses

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research conducts the entrance exam which is popularly known as All India Entrance Examination for Admission. This exam is basically organized for providing admissions to undergraduate and post graduate courses. It is the entrance exam through which the candidates get admission to the bachelor degree in agriculture other than veterinary sciences.

Important Dates

  • The application forms will be released both offline and online in the first week of February, 2017
  • Last date to submit the application form both online and offline falls in the last week of February, 2017
  • Admit card will release in last week of March, 2017
  • Exam for under graduate course will be conducted on 13th May, 2017
  • Exam for post graduate course will be conducted on 14th May, 2017
  • Result will be declared in the last week of May, 2017

Under Graduate courses like Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Home Science, Sericulture, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Engineering and Food Science, etc

Post Graduate course and PHD in agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Home Science, Physical Science, Social Sciences, Diary Sciences, Fisheries, Veterinary Sciences, etc

Application Fee

For undergraduate courses-

  • For general and OBC candidates, the fee is Rs.500
  • For reserved categories, the fee is Rs.250

For postgraduate courses-

  • For general and OBC candidates, the fee is Rs.600
  • For reserved categories, the fee is Rs.300


  • For general and OBC candidates, the fee is Rs.1200
  • For reserved categories, the fee is Rs.600

Eligibility Criteria

For UG courses, the age of candidate must be between 17 to 23 years as on 31st August 2017 and relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit for reserved category candidates

For PG courses, the age of candidates must not be less than 19 years as on 31st August 2017

For UG courses, the candidates should have cleared 12th class with minimum of 50% marks for general category and 40% marks for reserved categories with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture/Mathematics as main subjects

For PG courses, the candidates should have cleared a Bachelors degree in Agriculture or allied courses with minimum of 60% marks in aggregate for general categories and 50% marks in aggregate for reserved categories

Admit Card

Admit card is mandatory document to be carried while appearing for the entrance exam. No candidate without the admit card will be allowed to appear for the ICAR entrance exam 2017. Along with the admit card, the candidates will be provided with the duplicate admit card. In this, the candidates have to fill all the details except their roll number and exam venue. Candidates have to keep one copy of admit card with them. In the last week of March 2017, the candidates will be allotted with their admit cards


The result of the exam will be declared by the exam conducting authority in last week of May 2017. The candidates can check their result and merit list which will be declared on the official website of exam conducting authority
